Mix It With Faith

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1

Growing up in Eastern North Carolina I was blessed to have two Grandmas that each knew how to make some good biscuits and their specialty was “Cat Head Biscuits.” Now I understand if that name doesn’t sound too appetizing, but those biscuits got their name because they were the size of a “cat’s head.”

They were hand formed, without a biscuit cutter and baked in a round pan. Once done, you could pull those flaky biscuits apart and throw a slab of butter and your favorite jam right in the middle. Just the thought, makes my mouth water.

One thing every biscuit recipe has in common is the binder and that’s usually milk or buttermilk. You see without that substance the flower, baking powder, salt, and anything else the recipe calls for, has nothing to hold it all together.

Hebrews 11:1 says that “faith” is the “substance” of things hoped for. The word “hoped” means “expected for” and the word “faith” means the “title deed.” The difference between a believer and an unbeliever, even though each is presented with the same gospel, is “faith.” Hebrews 4:2 says, For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them not being mixed with faith in those who heard it.

The necessary ingredient one must have to receive Sozo salvation is faith. The word “Saved” in the New Testament is the Greek Word Sozo and it means to be saved, healed, delivered, preserved, protected, made prosperous and made whole and all one has to do to receive Sozo is to have faith. Being Sozo saved isn’t just being forgiven of our sins, but it’s everything that Jesus died and was raised to give us. Whatever you need today be sure and add your faith to the mix and what will turn out will be better than anything you can imagine.
