Take it Personal

Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings. Psalm 17:8

It was a perfect ending to a perfect day and just another one of those moments you hope you never forget. After a full day of outdoor fun with two of my girls, the three of us were sitting back relaxing and enjoying a movie. With one on my right and the other on my left I was rubbing ones hand and the others back when I said, “I love you” to which they replied simultaneously, “I love you too.” Neither one had any thought that I wasn’t talking to her specifically even though I said it to both. They both just simply responded as if that “I love you” had been specifically meant for them individually.

I immediately wondered, “When we hear “I love you” from our heavenly Father do we take it that personal?” It’s easy to believe that “Go so loved the world,” but do you personalize how much He loves YOU? If we’re honest, there seems to be a human default mechanism that kicks to try and stop that revelation from becoming too personal.

David had a personal revelation of how much the Father loved him. In Psalm 17:8 he referred to himself as the “Apple of God’s eye.” How much different would your life be if that one revelation, of how much God really loves you, was real in your life? Can you imagine what that would that look like on a daily basis? I believe one of the ways it would show forth is in “fearlessness.” Just like David, we would be fearless when it came to the giants in life, and any other obstacle that stood in our way.

1 John 4:18 says, “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear.” This isn’t speaking about our love, but His love.  This “Perfect Love” never wavers or fails. It never changes based on how perfect or imperfect our actions may be at times. It’s a love that’s always steady and never ending.

Today and everyday, let’s take it personal! Walk today in the continual light of how much He loves YOU!
