PRICELESS PRAISE

“Your righteousness, O God, reaches to the highest heavens.
You have done such wonderful things.
Who can compare with you, O God?”  Psalm 71:19

Have you ever found yourself doing the very thing, or things, you swore you’d never do? Such was the case for Peter. On their last night together, just before His crucifixion, Jesus warned His disciples that one of them would betray him. They all looked around among themselves trying to figure out just who it could be. It was then that Peter spoke up and told the Lord he would never betray Him. He swore that even if it meant death, he would never leave His side. As seen in Matthew 26, despite Peter’s sincerity and determination, sure enough, just as Jesus had said, he denied he ever knew Jesus, not once, but three times, before the rooster crowed the next morning.

A few days after the resurrection, it would all turn around for Peter as he would have a personal one-on-one encounter with Jesus that would bring him back into the fold of fellowship with the Lord, which he so desperately wanted. This encounter would forever change Peter’s heart and life, and from this restoration, Peter would devote the rest of his life to serving the Lord.

In that same chapter, we also see a woman who burst into the room where Jesus was seated as a dinner guest. As she broke open her expensive box of perfume and used it to anoint Jesus’ feet, the rumble and chatter grew loud as all were shocked and what they considered a waste of good money. They just simply couldn’t believe that she would “waste” such an expensive treasure that way. But what they didn’t understand was that, in her eyes, this was nothing. The value of the contents in her alabaster box was nothing when compared to the lavish forgiveness she had received from Jesus, and it, therefore, meant nothing to her to pour out every drop on her Lord and Savior. What others thought to be wasteful, she considered her priceless praise for the One who had saved her.

Today, go ahead and feel free to pour your priceless praise on the One who has saved and forgiven you too!
