BETTER THAN 911

“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
Will remain secure and rest in the shadow of the Almighty [whose power no enemy can withstand].”  Psalm 91:1 (AMP)

In the sparcly populated county in Eastern North Carolina where I live, our 911 Call Center Telecommunicators have undergone some significant training in recent years resulting in lives saved. Not to long ago our local Telecommunicators underwent intensive training in the Emergency Medical Dispatch Interface which allows them to interact with the callers to the 911 center, by giving them medical instructions to assist victims of heart attacks, strokes, choking, childbirth and more. This training has resulted in a number of victim’s lives saved and citizens within the county feeling assured knowing that when the call 911, they’re getting more than just the usual “stay on the line” line.

Psalm 91:1 has been a go to verse for many finding themselves in pearliest situations, but this verse along with all of chapter 91 of Psalm is more than just a quick fix, or stabilizer until help arrives. For those who learn how to “dwell” the need to call 911 may actually be much less frequent, if ever needed at all.

The promises found in Psalm 91 are for protection, which brings peace to the heart. The last verse in Psalm 91 says, “I will reward them with long life and give them my salvation.” “Them” again is refereeing to those who “dwell.”

One of definitions for “dwell” is “to live in” or “live at.” 1 Thessalonians 5:8 says, But let us who live in the light be clearheaded, protected by the armor of faith and love, and wearing as our helmet the confidence of our salvation.”

Today, you and I can live in the light of our Salvation (Sozo) all because of the New Covenant made possible by Jesus. Let His presence be your address and live free from the fear and worry of calamity.
