“Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm, and it filled the house where they were sitting.” Acts 2:2
In Exodus 14 terror gripped the hearts of the Hebrews as Pharaoh and the whole Egyptian army bore down on them. The Israelites had nowhere to go so they cried out to Moses, who cried out to the Lord. God told Moses to stretch out his staff over the waters and then God sent a mighty wind to blow a great divide in the middle of the sea. As the waters towered on the left and right, every last Hebrew walked across on dry ground, to the safety of the other side.
A mighty wind had blown setting the captive free and changing the Hebrews’ lives forever. They would never have to see their captors again and never again would they experience the harsh treatment they had once endured from their evil task masters. They once were slaves, but now they were free at last!
Fast forward about two thousand years later and God sends another wind to set captives free. This wind would be the “Wind” of the Holy Spirit and would bring freedom and deliverance. In an instant, this “Mighty Wind” changed Peter from a coward into a mighty man of God along with the other followers of Jesus who were present that day. As a result Peter stood up and preached with great boldness and power leading to over 3,000 people being saved.
What do you find yourself in need of freedom from? Does fear, worry, stress, infirmity, sin or any other ill have you bound? If so, your Heavenly Father wants to set you free!
Today, let me encourage you to allow the Mighty Wind of God’s Spirit to blow into your life every single day. As we do His fresh wind will bring lasting freedom and empower and enable us to be mighty witnesses for Him.
