Make The Call

“Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” Jeremiah 33:3

How fast could you dial 911 in the event of an emergency? Pretty quick I would imagine. Even little ones know how to dial those three famous numbers. When a situation arises beyond one’s control and there is danger or an emergency, we know those numbers will bring the much needed help we seek.

Jeremiah 33:3 tells us of another call we can make anytime we need and that’s directly to God. And, what I find so great about it is according to this verse His answer rate is even better than that of 911. No need to worry about not being able to get through, low battery, or phone lines down, He said unequivocally that He will answer!

The word “call” here in Hebrew is the word qara’ and it literally means to cry out, proclaim, utter a loud sound, to summon, invite, commission, appoint, call out and recite. Notice how close the words recite and receipt are? Jesus said in Mark 11:24, “Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive [them], and you will have [them].”

We just have to believe and receive this second part by faith that says that when we call He will show us great and mighty things in which we do not yet even know. How fast can a bad situation turn around when God steps in and shows up? All we have to do is put our faith, our hope, and our trust in Him and know that when we make that call, the “Ultimate Help and Helper” is on the way!

What’s just as encouraging is knowing that we don’t have to wait until there’s a crisis or an emergency to make that call. We can call out to Him every day knowing He’s available 24/7 with lines open, ready to hear from us.

Today’s Thought: We can know without any doubt that whether in a crisis or just daily life, we can call on Him and He will answer.
