Nothing To Lose

“Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!” Psalm 34:8

I remember as a young boy having a burden for an uncle who did not profess to be a believer in Jesus. He and my aunt lived several states away, and it was only on rare occasion that we got to see them. I remember one particular summer when they were down for a visit, I began to have a particularly strong burden for him. He wasn’t much for talking, so I was trying to think of some way I could break into a conversation with him about Jesus and heaven, when a particular thought came into my head. I don’t remember ever hearing anyone say this before, but it made pretty good since to this ten-year-old-boy.

When the timing was right and I had mustered enough courage, I said to him, “You know, you have nothing to lose by asking Jesus into your heart. If you ask Him in and this whole thing about heaven turns out not to be true, then you lose nothing. But, if you don’t receive Him and Heaven is real, you lose everything.” He didn’t bow his head and pray to receive Christ that day, but my hope is that he did before he died.

I know you can’t lead someone to a life of faith in Christ through logic alone, but it sure made sense to me even till this day. What is there to lose by going all the way in putting our faith and trust in him. I know that the Sozo Good News may sound too good to be true, but if we don’t receive it, we’ll never know what a life in Christ can be now and the one to come.

This same line of thinking is what convinced the King of Israel in II Kings chapter seven to let some men go out and see for themselves if the Syrians had really abandoned their camp, or if it was just a trick. Evidently the word of the four lepers was not enough to convince him. Maybe you, too, would find it hard to believe the word of a leper and to be honest I’ve got a few leprosy scars myself. So what I would encourage anyone to do, is to “taste and see” for themselves that He is good. I’m convinced that once someone has a real and genuine encounter with Him and His grace, they’ll never want to go back to a life that once was.

We have absolutely nothing to lose by putting our full faith in Him. It’s the only way we can fully experience all that Jesus died to give us. If you’re sick today, you have nothing to lose by believing that “By His stripes you are healed.” If you’re depressed today, you have nothing to lose by believing that “The chastisement of our peace was upon Him.” If you’re struggling financially today, then you have nothing to lose by believing that “He became poor so that we might become rich (fully supplied.)”

Whatever you may need today, you have nothing to lose by believing and receiving by faith everything that Sozo Salvation is. In Sozo we are saved, healed, delivered, preserved, protected, made prosperous and made whole. Now that’s a winning proposition!

Today’s Thought: By believing and receiving Jesus and all He died to give us, we have nothing to lose and everything to gain!
