Isaiah 53:4-5 (NKJV)
Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.
Some years ago our family car broke down at my office. There was nothing I could do to get it to start, so I knew it would need to be towed to a repair shop. Times where tight, so a repair bill and a towing bill just weren’t in order. Not knowing what to do, I prayed about it and with in just a few minutes I was reminded that the recent auto insurance company we had just signed on with gave us towing as one of the benefits to our policy. The call was made, and in no time the tow truck arrived taking the family car to the repair shop.
How many people have never taken advantage off all they are entitled to through their “Salvation package?” You see, when Jesus went to the cross He didn’t just die to save us from our sins, He took stripes on his back for our healing, the chastisement of our peace was upon Him and so much more. He was even rejected by the Father, so we could forever be accepted.
When you understand that the word “Saved” in the New Testament is the Greek word Sozo, and in combination with the word Soteria, the Greek word for Salvation, the word “Saved” takes on a whole new meaning. It literally means to be saved, healed, delivered, preserved, protected, made prosperous and made whole.
Jesus said in John 10:10 that He came that we may have life and have it to the full. Which means in abundance, until it overflows.
I want to encourage you today to receive all that Jesus died to give you. Whatever you need today, His finished work on the cross provides the answer. No wonder we call it “Good Friday.”
Praise Him…….thats good word!
