Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. Philippians 4:6
I’ve heard it said, “If you’re going to pray, don’t worry and if you’re going to worry, don’t pray.” One of the definitions for the word “supplication” in Philippians 4:6 is “to that of childlike confidence, by representing prayer as the heart’s conversation with God.”
Prayer, as it is defined in this verse is a “confident petition, with childlike faith.” Philippians 4:6 says, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.” I love the way this verse reads in the New Living Translation. “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all He has done.”
Our Heavenly Father desires for us to come to Him with everything we need and for us to come to Him with the confidence that He hears us and will answer our petition. No, that doesn’t mean every prayer is answered the way we want and when we want, and personally I’m glad for that. Think about it, what does God say to you more, yes or no? If you take inventory of your life over the past 2 to 5 years, I can almost assure you that you’ve seen a lot more yes’s than no’s.
Why? Mark 7:11 says, “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!” Just as a Mom or Dad loves to bless their children, even more so, our Father wants to bless us. He loves it when we come to Him with any and everything we need and even with our desires, anytime. He wants us to have that childlike faith and confidence in knowing that as our loving Father, He always has our best interest at heart.
I encourage you today to come to Him needs, wants or desires. Talk to Him about your concerns, your ups, your downs and any and every situation you maybe dealing with. He’s always waiting with open arms.
