Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
There are times in life when we all feel alone. We can be surrounded by family, friends, and co-workers and still feel isolated and lonely. Often this sense of aloneness comes from a feeling of inadequacy; feeling as though we are not qualified enough for the task at hand and becoming overwhelmed at the thought of all the things on our to-do list.
If you’re having one of those days or moments, then let me encourage you with a truth that comes from a promise; a promise given directly from Jesus Himself. The promise is simply this; that He is with YOU! Now I know that if you’re a believer in Jesus Christ then you will agree with the seemingly universal truth of “God is with us.” But, I believe the Lord wants you and I to go a step further and personalize this promise. I believe He wants you to know He is with YOU!
I really can’t explain it or comprehend it. I just know it’s true, first, because He said so and, second, because I’ve experienced it myself. With my finite understanding, I’m unable to comprehend how our Awesome God can be everywhere at once, or even how He can care enough about me to want to be involved in even the smallest details of my life. But it is absolutely true. And when I stop and think about it, it brings such warmth to my heart to know that He is truly with me everywhere and all the time.
No matter where you are or what you might be facing, or even how large and daunting the task ahead may seem, know that this promise is as personal for you as it was for the disciples He was speaking to that day. It’s the reason He came to Earth over two-thousand years ago, because He wants to be with you. Find rest, safety, and peace in this personal promise today: He is with you.
