His Mighty Hand

Exodus 13:14
With the power of his mighty hand, the Lord brought us out of Egypt, the place of our slavery.

Have you ever been set free from something? Maybe it was a brutal boss, an unhealthy relationship, a burdensome debt, or a bad habit. If so, it is good to often look back and remember that it was the LORD who brought you out.

It’s helpful to recall the blessings of the LORD and all the wonderful things He has brought into your life.  However, it’s just as important to remember the things He has brought you from: the things from which you were powerless to deliver yourself and that only His mighty hand could do.

The children of Israel were powerless to deliver themselves from the slavery and bondage of Egypt. Only the mighty hand of the LORD could bring them out, and in one night, based on no act of their own, the LORD did just that.  All the Israelites had to do was follow His step-by-step instructions and allow His mighty hand to deliver them.

The word “saved” as used in the New Testament, is the Greek word, Sozo.  One of the many benefits of Sozo, being saved, is to be delivered.  It is a benefit we can claim and receive by faith. All we have to do is follow the LORD step-by-step and allow Him to set us free.

Today, if you find yourself in a place where deliverance is needed, you can trust His mighty hand to deliver you. Ask Him, and then follow Him step-by-step along the way. Then, when you’ve been brought out, remember that it was His mighty hand that rescued you.
