Expect the Unexpected

Is anything too hard for the Lord? Genesis 18:30

Yes, I was a little surprised. I wasn’t expecting it to by quite as cold as a frigid -1 in Eastern North Carolina. Maybe in a place like Pittsburg, but certainly not where I live. I’d never experienced temps that cold anywhere in my lifetime. When I stepped outside I thought “Wow, this is what -1 feels like.”

Just because we’ve never experienced something before doesn’t mean it can’t happen, though circumstances seem impossible. Such was the case for Sarah. She was well beyond childbearing years, but God had made a promise and He was going to keep it. Despite her current condition, and even her own doubts, God did what He said and came through on that long-awaited promise to give Abraham and Sarah a son.

Jesus, in an effort to demonstrate that impossibilities were possible through Him, went about healing the sick and raising the dead as chronicled in Luke chapter 7.  The words He spoke to the woman who barged into the home where he was a guest for dinner to wash His feet with her tears and dry them with her hair, still hold true for us today, “Your faith has saved you.”

Whatever impossibilities you may be facing today, know that just as fast as He turned things around for David in his darkest hour, He can do the same for you. And just like David, you’ll find yourself saying, “You have turned my mourning into dancing.”
