Ponder

But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. Luke 2:19

From that first angelic encounter where she was told she had been picked by God to deliver the Messiah, to the visit from the shepherds, Mary had experienced a lot in such a short time. I’m sure at times it must have seemed overwhelming, yet Mary never dismissed any of these memorable moments, but instead treasured and pondered them.

She didn’t consider any of these moments to be insignificant or coincidental, but instead she counted each encounter as extremely valuable and she stored these treasured moments in her heart.

Luke 2:19 says that she also “pondered them.”  To ponder means “to put them all together.” Mary put each piece together in her heart like a large puzzle until she could see the beautifully Divine mosaic of what her Heavenly Father was doing in and through her life. She may have very well connected the dots to realize that this Christ Child, whom she had delivered, was the very “Seed” God had spoken of in Genesis 3:15.

Let me encourage you today to treasure and ponder the significant things that God has done in your life up until this moment, and the things He will do in this new year to come. As you place value on these moments, God will help you put them all together and ponder them in your heart. This will only help you grow in the confidence that He has great and significant plans for your life.
