ONLY THE BEST

“But Moses gave no allotment of land to the tribe of Levi, for the Lord, the God of Israel, had promised that he himself would be their allotment.” Joshua 13:33

It was the day everyone had been waiting for! As the Tribes of Israel lined up one by one, anticipation must have filled the air. Everyone waited with bated breath for Joshua to give out the allotments of land they had all been promised. Everyone knew it was only the Lord who could have helped them defeat so many kings as they did. Though they were vastly outnumbered on many battle fronts, in battle after battle, the Lord fought for them. Now the long awaited day had finally come, and each tribe would know the area God would give them to live and thrive.

Just as the Lord had promised, they would move into houses they did not build, eat and drink from fields and vineyards they did not plant, and drink the purest water from wells they did not dig. They had come a long way from the days their parents were slaves in Egypt. And, the word had spread like a news bulletin, even to distant lands, that yes indeed, Jehovah is a mighty God!

At first glance, however, it may have appeared that one tribe got the short end of the stick. The Tribe of Levi received no allotment of land at all. They weren’t given the bountiful lands and cities like there sister tribes were given. Instead, they received the greatest allotment of all.  Joshua 13:33 tells us that when the land was doled out, “the God of Israel had promised that he himself would be their allotment”.

The Tribe of Levi was the tribe God had handpicked to serve Him at the Tabernacle of the Lord, and it was from this tribe the priest and high priest would be chosen. God did not want them to rely on farming and harvesting to sustain themselves, but instead He had reserved only the best for them; Himself. He Himself wanted to be their source, substance, and supply.

Just like the Tribe of Levi, you and I are of the same special class. Because of the Priesthood of the Believer, as illustrated and explained in 1 Peter 2:5 and Hebrews 4:14-16, we are partakers in the unending supply that comes from the Father Himself. Today, God Himself is our Salvation, Healing, Deliverance, Preservation, Protection, Prosperity, and Wholeness; all because of Jesus!
