“Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.” Matthew6:21
According to workandmoney.com, “A circa-1500 da Vinci painting of Jesus Christ holding a crystal orb representing the “crystalline sphere” of the heavens sold at auction for $450.3 million.” I learned several years ago in real estate school that “the market” for anything, whether that be property, a car, or art work, is determined by what someone is willing to pay. In the world of art collecting, buyers commonly pay hundreds of thousands, to even millions of dollars, for what they consider a prize piece of artwork. It can seem unimaginable to the average person, but there really are people out there who have “a heart for art” and are willing to pay millions for the right piece.
Consider this. Would God say something in scripture, like hold up a standard or convey a teaching, that He Himself was not willing to uphold? Of course not. For example, God could give the Law because that was His standard, then Jesus came and fulfilled the Law to a “T.” So with that in mind, we know that Jesus wouldn’t say something, or teach something, that He Himself didn’t truly mean.
So, when Jesus said to the multitude gathered on the mountain, “Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be,” He and the Father actually meant it. And if that is true, and we know it is, then what was the amount of the treasure the Father was willing to spend for you and me? His Son! John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world (you and me) that He gave (spent) His one and only Son, so that anyone who would believe in Him would not parish but have Everlasting Life.
The market value was determined over 2,000 years ago and God paid the highest price He could pay for you and me. Now consider Romans 8:32which says, “Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else?”
Know, today, that you are of the highest value, and that along with the highest price that could be paid, Jesus, the Father has provided everything else we could ever need through Sozo Salvation.
