“Victory comes from you, O Lord May you bless your people.” Psalm 3:8
One of the greatest testaments to one’s life is what that individual passes down to the next generation. Proverbs 13:22 says, “A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children.” Typically, when it comes to “heritage,” most folks think of material wealth, and while leaving a monetary inheritance can be a good thing, there are other things that can be even greater.
All of us, having been re-born in and through Jesus Christ, have been given the heritage of victory. Psalm 3:8 tells us that “victory” comes from the Lord. “Comes” means “to be passed down or given to.” But this word “victory” has an even greater, more inclusive, meaning. The word “victory” here is the Hebrew word yeshus’ah which is translated “salvation.” This word salvation is defined as, deliverance, welfare, prosperity, salvation (by God), and victory. The word yeshus’ah is also where we get the Hebrew word Yehowshuwa and this is the word “Jesus” in Hebrew, which means “Jehovah is salvation.”
Today, we can walk in great victory over anything we may face in the days and years to come, knowing that Jesus is our victory and through Him we are guaranteed victory!
