“In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O Lord, will keep me safe.” Psalm 4:8
“Rest in peace” are words not usually thought of for everyday living, but rather commonly used during times of death. But that’s exactly what our Heavenly Father wants us to do, “rest in peace.”
After ten and a half months adrift, Noah and those in the ark finally came to rest. Genesis 8:4 says, “Exactly five months from the time the flood began, the boat came to rest on the mountains of Ararat.” The number five is the number of grace and Genesis 6:8 tells us that “Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.” After all that they had been through, from building the ark, preparing for the flood, receiving the animals and so on, by God’s grace everything found its place of rest. And, of all places that happened to be on the mountains of Ararat. “Ararat” means “the curse reversed.”
Today, through God’s grace, we can rest in peace and the safety of Jesus as our Ark, and on the knowledge that He has reversed the curse for us through His finished work on the cross.
