LET IT SHINE

“You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.” Matthew 5:14

Our home looks a little different now that the lights are gone. Yes, we have lights, but no more Christmas lights. My wife, like so many others, waits until the new year sets in and then all those    decorations and lights get stored away until next Christmas.

One of the things I so enjoyed about this past Christmas was seeing that sparkle in the eyes of our little one, Jonas, as he so enjoyed seeing all the Christmas lights. One night, we drove about an hour away just so he could see an annual drive-through light display.  And even after three trips through, he still wanted to keep going.

The lights are what make Christmas, Christmas. Take the lights away, and Christmas looks just like any other holiday. Light has a way of drawing people, and as Jesus tells us in Matthew 5, our good works are a light that draw others to Him.

Today, be encouraged and reminded to keep on letting your light shine. Yes, disappointment will certainly come our way from time to time, but we can’t let that stop us from doing good. Our good works make a difference and shine brighter than a neon sign, pointing the way to Him.
