“Who may climb the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in his holy place?” Psalm 24:3
David asked two very important questions in Psalm 24: “Who may climb the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in his holy place?” Then David answered these questions in verse four by saying, “Only those whose hands and hearts are pure, who do not worship idols and never tell lies.” The three things that David points out as qualifications for one to come into the Lord’s presence, no one could keep. Throughout all of Israel, there would never be one found whose hands and heart were completely pure. There would never be one who did not find themselves, at least from time to time, falling short in one of these areas. If that were the standard today, none of us would ever be able to be in the presence of a holy, righteous and all-powerful God.
Thank God “Someone” came along, and that Someone is Jesus. Jesus made the way for any one of us to come into God’s presence with boldness Because of Jesus, the Lamb of God, the keeping of the law and its rigid regulations would never again be necessary. And, because of Jesus, our High Priest, anyone would be able to enjoy unlimited and unhindered fellowship with our Creator and Heavenly Father.
Hebrews 4:14-16 says: “So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe. 15 This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin. 16 So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.”
Rejoice today that, because of Jesus, you can!
