TURN TO THE VOICE

“The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is Majestic.” Psalm 29:4

The hit TV show, The Voice, made a big splash in the Spring of 2011 and has since garnered millions of viewers. Contestants sing before four judges, whose backs are turned, hoping to have at least one of them turn their chair around, signifying they want to be that singer’s coach in the competition. Some say that The Voice is the truest of singing competitions because the judges are not allowed to see the contestants but can only judge based on the sound of their voice.

David describes the voice of the Lord in Psalm 29:4 as both powerful and majestic. Elijah came to know it as a “still small voice.” The truth is, God can speak to us in a variety of ways. The key is that we recognize His voice enough to know it’s Him when He speaks. Jesus said in John 10:27, My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.”

Today, and every day, let us be open and ready to turn quickly toward Him when we hear His voice.
