“Oh, how great are God’s riches and wisdom and knowledge! How impossible it is for us to understand his decisions and his ways!” Romans 11:33
Known as “America’s Pastor,” God used Billy Graham to share the Gospel with millions around the world. Even from his earliest days of preaching in a tent, Reverend Graham had a knack for explaining the Gospel in the simplest of terms. As his ministry grew and his fame spread around the world, people would come in droves to hear him, packing out large arenas and open-air stadiums. Millions more would tune in by television, yet his simple message stayed the same.
Time after time reporters and TV hosts would try their best to stump him with hard philosophical questions about God, yet Reverend Graham took no shame in responding with, “I don’t know about that,” or “I don’t have the answer for that.” He would then continue his response with something like, “but what I do know is that God loves this world so much that He sent Jesus to die on a cross for you and for me. And, if we’ll just simply ask Jesus into our lives and receive this free gift of salvation, then our names will be written in the Lambs Book of Life and we will spend eternity with Him in Heaven when we die and leave this earth.” Dr. Graham was a master at keeping the Gospel so simple that even a child could understand.
While the act of the Gospel is hard to get one’s mind around, the truth of the Gospel is as simple as stated in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
Today, we don’t have to understand everything about God and what He does, we just need to grasp that “He loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so.”
