LET HIM

“The Lord is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving.” Psalm 28:7

Jesus, even knowing that the crucifixion was just around the corner for Him, still loved the people of Israel and Jerusalem. In Matthew 23 you can hear the cry of His heart as He laments for Jerusalem, saying in verse 37, “How often I have wanted to gather your children together as a hen protects her chicks beneath her wings.” Jesus goes on to say, to the breaking of His heart, “But they would not.”

They would not let Him be the loving, caring Shepherd that He so desired to be to and for His people. How sad is that? But do you realize, when we carry worries, doubts, fears and unbelief we are, in essence, doing the same thing? No, we’re not rejecting Jesus as Christ, but, even unintentionally, we can reject His care.

Today, let’s be reminded to let Him be our shield of protection, like a mother hen, casting all our care on Him.
