“Wherever he went—in villages, cities, or the countryside—they brought the sick out to the marketplaces. They begged him to let the sick touch at least the fringe of his robe, and all who touched him were healed.” Mark 6:56
Of all the places you would expect Jesus to be received in His calling and destiny, you would think that would be in His own hometown. He had played in those streets, studied in the local school, and I’m sure had gone with his mom to the market to shop many times. People around town knew Him as Mary and Joseph’s son, but when He stepped into His earthly ministry those very same people rejected Him. He wanted so much to demonstrate the power of The Father’s love to the people in His own town and wanted to do the same mighty works there that He had done in Capernaum, but He couldn’t. To say, “He couldn’t,” seems almost sacrilegious, but that’s exactly what Mark 6:5 says; “And because of their unbelief, He couldn’t do any miracles among them except to place His hands on a few sick people and heal them.” Jesus was even “amazed at their unbelief.”
I’m so glad that, in spite of the rejection He must have felt, He didn’t stop. No, He brushed that rejection aside and kept on going. He kept on traveling from town to town sharing and demonstrating the love of the Father and the power of the Kingdom of God. And the people of Gennesaret were glad too.
Jesus went right on to the next area and, as soon as He stepped off the boat, the townspeople poured out to see Him, bringing their sick to be healed and hanging on His every word.
As you share your Sozo story with others, don’t stop if you’re met with resistance, and especially if it comes from the ones where you would least expect it. No, don’t stop, but keep on going because the very next person you talk to may have been waiting to hear what you have to share and will receive it with open arms.
