SPEAK

“That same day the LORD said to Moses, “Go to Moab, to the mountains east of the river, and climb Mount Nebo, which is across from Jericho. Look out across the land of Canaan, the land I am giving to the people of Israel as their own special possession.” Deuteronomy 32:48-49

As Moses was nearing the end of his life, the Lord told him to go to the top of Mount Nebo and look out over the “Promised Land.” The Lord wanted Moses to see with his own eyes the very place he had spoken about so many times. Moses had been faithful to prophecy to the people of God that this was the place the Lord wanted to bring them, the land flowing with milk and honey. It’s interesting that the name “Nebo” means “prophet,” and it’s the last place Moses would set foot.

So, what exactly is a “prophet” you may wonder? A prophet is one who speaks God’s word, and as there are prophets listed in the New Testament as those who God has called to be a part of the five-fold ministry to “equip the saints to do the work of the ministry,” not everyone is called to hold that office. But as Paul tells us 1 Corinthians 14:5, we should all prophesy. So, what does that look like for you and me as a day-to-day believer in Jesus Christ? It means that we can speak God’s word into circumstances and situations around us, and even in our own lives. We can declare with boldness the word of the Lord over our loved ones, family members, co-workers and even ourselves. Proverbs 18:21 tells us that, “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” Job 22:28 says, “You will also declare a thing, and it will be established for you; so light will shine on your way.”

I’m not saying that we can simply go around saying just any ole thing we want to say and expect it to happen, but what I am saying is that a believer that has God’s word in their heart and speaks it out of their mouth in faith can see circumstances and situations turn around for God’s glory. He wants to work with us and through us to bring His Kingdom and Light into this world, and one of the ways that happens is when we speak His word.

Today, speak God’s Word and see the promise!
