“Through Christ, God has given us the privilege and authority as apostles to tell Gentiles everywhere what God has done for them, so that they will believe and obey him, bringing glory to his name.” Romans 1:5
I love seeing those Publishers Clearinghouse Sweepstakes commercials! Maybe it’s because I get lost for just a moment in the thought of what it would like to get that knock at my door and a fellow holding one of those big checks that say’s something like, “$5,000 A Week for Life.”
Second to the recipient, the other thing that is really cool about that whole thing is being on the “Prize Patrol” itself. Can you imagine having a job like that, where all you have to do was travel from town to town and knock on people’s door letting them know they’ve won it big?
Well, in essence that’s exactly what you and I get to do when it comes to the Gospel. The word “Gospel” means Good News and you and I could consider ourselves members of “God’s Prize Patrol.” We get the awesome privilege of telling people “They’ve Won Big!” And, what they’ve won is actually bigger than any check or amount they could receive over their lifetime. What we’ve all been given is Eternal Life and right standing with God, all furnished and paid for through the sacrificial Body and Blood of Jesus Christ Himself.
This is exactly what Paul did with his life after he received this gracious gift for himself. He made it his life’s mission to go everywhere he could and share this good news with as many people as possible. And he said in Romans 1:16, “For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—the Jew first and also the Gentile.”
Today, as the Holy Spirit orchestrates the moments and opportunities, don’t hesitate to share the Good News with others. And, as you do you’ll experience all the joy that come with being a members of “God’s Prize Patrol.”
