“You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever.” Psalm 16:11
I’ll never forget the shock when I stepped of the plane, into the airport and on the street in India. The though went through my mind, “this is what a nation without God looks like.” The streets were filled with trash and cows meandering around, and in the faces of the people there was a darkness. As we waited outside the terminal for a van to pick us up and take us to the mission we would be based from for the next several days all I could see was darkness.
Then, they started walking toward us. A group of young Indian nationals that were with the mission sent to pick us up. I had never seen these people before a day in my life, but I instantly knew they were fellow believers. They weren’t holding up signs saying “we’re Christians” and they didn’t have on “wittiness wear” sweatshirts, but instantly I knew. I knew because there was a glow about them. There was light in their faces that was so much brighter than the darkness all around me and in the faces of their fellow countrymen. The distinction could not have been clearer, and that experience made an impression on me I’ll never forget
In Exodus 33:15, “For your presence among us sets your people and me apart from all other people on the earth.” Moses knew that the only thing that made a difference in the lives of the Hebrews from all the other people was God’s presence, and the same holds true today. It’s not because we tote a Bible, attend Church, or can quote scripture that sets us apart, it’s His presence in and on our lives. As Moses spent time with God his face had a glow and after Saul had his encounter with Jesus on the road to Damascus his life was forever set apart.
Today, let me encourage you to continue to spend time with Him, and as often as you can just bask in His presence and as we do we will “flow in the Glow.”
