HIDDEN BUT NOT FORGOTTEN

“For, at just the right time Christ will be revealed from heaven by the blessed and only almighty God, the King of all kings and Lord of all lords.” 1 Timothy 6:15

In 2 Kings 11, we see the story of Joash and how, as just a small child, God hid him and his caretaker away in a room in the Temple for “just the right time.” I can only imagine what it must have felt like in a dark room with no windows for seven whole years. Young Joash and his caretaker both must have wondered, “has God forgotten us,” and “is He ever going to bring us out of this place?” What they both may not have realized in the moment was that God had a plan, and in that plan He would bring them out at just the right time.

Even having previously been through a divorce, there was still a huge desire in my heart for the “soul-mate” that God had for me. I didn’t want to settle and just commit the rest of my life to just anyone, but instead I wanted the right-one that God had in mind for me. I wanted only that specific person that only He could bring into my life to love me, encourage me, and help me accomplish the plans He had for me, while in turn doing the same for her, knowing that our lives had been intertwined for His Glory. That was a tall order, but I sought the Lord earnestly for this and He answered my prayers.

What’s interesting is that He didn’t just answer those prayers when I prayed, but He answered those prayers when she was born, long before those prayers would be prayed. My now beautiful and amazing wife, Jen, wondered for all those years what was wrong with her, that at 37 she wasn’t yet married. But the truth was God had kept her hidden. This hit me one day as I went to her church with her. This large church, in a large city with a large Christian community was full of guys her age. But I realized that day that even in this church, city, and community, God had kept her hidden just for me. As He shed the light of that truth in my heart, I had an overwhelming sense of gratitude and joy.

Today, know that you may be hidden, but you are by no means forgotten. Stay yielded to His plan and “at just the right time” it will all be revealed.
