Now faith is the substance of things hoped (expected) for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1

Expecting a child is an exciting thing, but I can only imagine what it must have been like for Mary! She knew the truth of how it all happened, but no one else in town was buying it. If it had not been for the Angelic encounter, even Joseph would have called off the wedding.  I’m sure she wondered, “How will this whole thing turn out?”

Once I recall having a knot in my stomach that just wouldn’t go away so and asked the Lord to help me understand, and then I heard it. “Divine Expectancy.” Those two words began to bring a peace and understanding I hadn’t had before. Along with that peace came a flood of analogies and an illustration of an expectant mom. Now I know that may sound a little crazy coming from a guy, but bear with me.

I thought about how a mom must feel knowing that a baby will soon be born and how she prepares. The Lord was saying to me in that season that He was preparing me for something, and then it all started to become clearer. I remembered being in a conference once when I heard Joseph Garlington say, “Sometimes God has to prepare you for what He has prepared for you.” I’ve never forgot that.

In fact, someone reading this today you may be stepping into a new season of life. And in this new season God is going to do some things in and through you that you may never have thought possible.

So how does one prepare for such a season? It first starts with the words Mary said to the angel when He told her that God had chosen her to carry the Christ Child. She said, “Be it unto me according to your Word Oh Lord.” As crazy as the whole thing seemed she yielded to God was saying, and that it was at that very moment that Jesus was conceived in her.

Maybe today you feel “expectant” with something, and you many not, even know what it is. Let me encourage you today to yield to the plan God has for you by saying “Your will is my will Father.” Then, let Him “prepare you for what He has prepared for you.”

This new season of your life just may be your greatest season yet!
