“Jesus traveled through all the towns and villages of that area, teaching in the synagogues and announcing the Good News about the Kingdom. And he healed every kind of disease and illness.” Matthew 9:35
According to Wikipedia, “A by-product, or byproduct, is a secondary product derived from a manufacturing process or chemical reaction. It is not the primary product or service being produced.”
Listverse.com sights, “Cow intestines led a pretty depressing existence prior to the nineteenth century. Their taste was overshadowed by the rest of the delicious parts of the cow and their utility was overshadowed by the versatility of pig and sheep intestines for sausage casing. All of that ended in 1875 when Pierre Babolat made the first cow intestine tennis racket, citing its ability to absorb wrist strain and control the ball better. Previously, cow farms would pay waste removal companies thousands of dollars each month to remove the leftover intestines, but now they’ve become one of the most profitable byproducts of the slaughtering process. Even today it’s a commodity that’s cherished by some of the world’s best professional tennis players.”
In Matthew chapter nine, Jesus shows us one of the “by-products” of the Good News; the Good News being that man’s sins are forgiven and we are made right with God through Jesus. As Jesus went about teaching and preaching the Good News, “He healed every kind of disease and illness.”
When the paralytic was lowered by his friends in front of Jesus for healing, Jesus first said to him, “Your sins be forgiven.” Maybe at that moment in his life that man needed forgiveness more than he needed healing, but what he got was both.
Most anyone who comes to Christ comes to receive forgiveness of sins and a future home in Heaven, but along with that forgiveness, Jesus has also given us some additional by-products of our salvation. The word saved throughout the New Testament is the Greek word “Sozo,” and it not only means to be saved from our sin but also to be healed, delivered, preserved, protected, made prosperous and made whole.
When Jesus told the woman with the issue of blood to, “Go your way your faith has made you whole,” the word “whole” there is the Greek word “Sozo.”
Today, don’t hesitate to receive by faith any of those additional by-products of Salvation that Jesus has made available to us.
