THE GREATEST SHOW

“I’ve also done it, so you can tell your children and grandchildren about how I made a mockery of the Egyptians and about the signs I displayed among them—and so you will know that I am the Lord.” Exodus 10:2

Whenever the big train rolled into the city and the Big Top was erected, thousands would flock to see the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, which was hailed by many as “The Greatest Show on Earth.” I’m sure it was a sight to see, but nothing has ever compared to the show God Himself put on in Egypt, as the nation was left in ruins. They had mistreated God’s chosen people for centuries, and now the Lord was pouring out His wrath. He wanted to show the world, for generations to come, that He, indeed, was the Lord God Almighty and none would ever compare to Him.

Fast forward about two thousand years and there was another show that happened, but this was a show of God’s love and grace. In this show, He got even too, but with death, hell and the grave. Jesus, His one and only Son, rose from the grave in such victory and majesty, and then went about showing Himself to some five hundred witnesses before He ascended to the Father.

He also showed that for anyone who would put their trust in Him, their sins would be forgiven.  God has continued to show His love and grace through the Holy Spirit, whom He sent to His disciples, and all who believed, not many days after Jesus said His earthly goodbyes.

Those same followers began to show God’s mighty power, love, and grace through their own lives as they went about sharing the “Good News” with others.

Today, let me encourage you to allow God to show up and show out in and through your life, as you keep your eyes on Him and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit.
