“But Jesus said, ‘Someone deliberately touched me, for I felt healing power go out from me’.” Luke 8:46
Jesus, on his way to the home of Jairus to heal his daughter, was stopped in his tracks. As the crowds were pressing in upon Jesus that day, a woman touched Him in such a way that got His complete attention. So, what was it about this woman’s touch that was so different that all the others? Jesus said that she touched Him “deliberately.” This word, deliberately, in the Greek means “to fasten one’s self to, adhere to, cling to.”
When this woman touched Jesus so deliberately, she was actually grabbing ahold of, and clinging to, the Word. John 1:1 says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” Psalm 107:20 says, “He (God) sent His word and healed them.”
I remember several years ago watching my mom go through the diagnosis, treatment and healing of cancer. I watched as her body grew weak and tired, and all of her hair fell out. I also saw how, through the whole ordeal, she grabbed ahold of the Word of God so deliberately. She believed in her heart that the Lord had told her she would be healed. She hung onto that word, and the written word throughout scripture, about healing and complete healing manifested in her life.
Today, what do you need to see God do in your life, or in a situation near and dear to your heart? Whatever that may be, grab ahold of Gods’ Word, deliberately, and don’t let go!
