“Come with great power, O God, and rescue me! Defend me with your might.” Psalm 54:1
Have you ever felt the need to defend yourself when falsely maligned or accused of something? In Numbers 16, Korah incited a rebellion against Moses that led to him and over 250 of his followers meeting a tragic end. In the moment, Korah didn’t realize that in choosing to fight against Moses he was actually fighting against the Lord Himself. Moses, instead of making it about him and taking matters into his own hands, put the whole thing in the Lord’s hands and relied on the Lord to be his defense.
It’s never easy to endure unjust accusation or criticism. It’s only natural to want to defend ourselves in moments like these, but the truth is our greatest defender is the Lord Himself. The good news is He will defend us! It may or may not come forth in the timing and manner that we want, but we can be confident that He is faithful to come to our defense.
I vividly remember going through a season, years ago, where I felt like I needed to defend myself, but His still small voice on the inside of me kept telling me to let Him be my defense. I’m so glad that I did!
Today, if you feel misunderstood, misrepresented, or mistreated know that you have the “Great Defender” on your side, and He will be your defense.
