The pop group, Black Eyed Peas, released one of their first songs back in 2003 with its title posing a question, “Where is the Love?” This song quickly became a chart topper because I’m convinced it’s question is a real question on the minds of many. Part of the chorus stands out as it is actually a prayer…
“Father, Father, Father help us
Send some guidance from above
‘Cause people got me, got me questioning
(Where’s the love).”
The world around us is looking and searching for the love of God now more than ever and that answer is found in you and I as believers in Jesus Christ.
Jesus says in John 13:35, “Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.” Jesus makes it clear that the world should see something in us, as His followers, that will show others where the love is. But what makes this all possible is the He Himself starts the love flow. John 3:16 say, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, so that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life.” Romans 5:8 states, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
The Disciple John got his whole identity from the truth that Jesus loved him and refereed to himself as “the disciple whom Jesus loved.”
Today, as you and I keep ourselves in the love that flows from Jesus, into us, and out to others, we will be the living answer to the world’s question, pointing them to the real love that can only be found in Him.
