FOREVER LOYAL

In the age of “selfies,” true loyalty has become hard to find. The Apostle Paul defined it as “perilous times” when he wrote to his young protégée Timothy in 2 Timothy 3:1 which says; “You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult (perilous) times. For people will love only themselves and their money (own interest.)

In 2 Samuel chapters 1 and 2 King David experienced this perilousness firsthand as thousands throughout Israel betrayed him. The rebellion led by his very own son Absalom causing David so much hurt and pain that he mourned and wept openly.

There were however those that committed themselves to sticking with David no matter what, setting their own self-interest aside. Without their help and loyalty David would have been doomed and God remembered their loyalty and rewarded those loyal to David.

Maybe you’ve experienced moments in life when betrayal from someone close brought great pain. In those moments that we can take heart knowing there is always One that will “stick closer than a brother.” Jesus Himself identifies with the pain that comes from disloyalty, and He has committed Himself to us and has promised to “never leave us or forsake us” no matter what.

David writes on Psalm 32:8 “The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.”

Today, rest and rejoice in knowing that He is forever looking out for your best interest, forever with you no matter what and always and forever loyal.
